At 493,000 square feet, the Anaheim Medical Center Parking
Structure is a seven level, cast-in-place, post-tensioned
parking structure and has 1,566 parking stalls to be
utilized by Kaiser Permanente members, patients, employees,
physicians and visitors. It is part of Kaiser's 27-acre,
multiple building campus meeting the health care needs of
Kaiser’s Orange county members.
Many sustainability features were incorporated into the
structure. Built on a reclaimed Brownfield, the new parking
facility removed a blighted and potentially hazardous area
from the surrounding neighborhood. A stormwater runoff
system was designed to prevent untreated runoff from leaving
the site and possibly adding pollutants into the local
watershed. Site irrigation will utilize only reclaimed
water. Construction materials with high recycled content,
such as rebar, steel and concrete were specified. Adhesives
used were low VOC to help preserve good air quality. With
the use of energy efficient fluorescent light fixtures, the
parking structure’s energy use will exceed the already
stringent Title 24 requirements. Pending final approval,
plans include placing photovoltaics on the garage roof to
generate renewable energy.
